1 Timothy 5:8 says, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” I have always been surprised by this verse. How can not providing for oneself or family be worse than being without faith as an unbeliever? I am aware that 2 Thessalonians 3:10 applies to those that were becoming lazy and quit working while they were waiting for the rapture but I don’t know about the context of 1 Timothy 5:8.

How can you be so sure that God exists? The Bible says God answers sincere hearts’ prayers, yet he ignores my prayers. Why is that? They say maybe it’s not meant to happen. In that case, why does God keep us in the same situation no matter how much you try to change the situation?
