Palm readers are part of the OCCULT. They practice DIVINATION, where they are supposedly “foretelling the future” by interpreting the lines and marks of a person’s hand. Palm reading is sometimes called “chiromancy” which is rooted in Greek mythology. The word comes from the Greek word KHEIRO (which means “hand”) and MANTIA (which means “divination”).

The Bible expressly forbids DIVINATION. Leviticus 19:26 states, “You shall not eat anything with the blood, NOR SHALL YOU PRACTICE DIVINATION or soothsaying” (NKJV). The “palm reader” acts as a “medium” when reading someone’s palm and foretelling their future. Under the Mosaic Law they were condemned to death, as we see in Leviticus 20:27, “A man or a woman who is a medium…shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones.” So, to answer your question, “Yes, palm readers are real in the sense that there are those who practice the occult to foretell the future by supernatural means (by the power of Satan and demons), yet they are condemned by God.”

Before we close, God has chosen to reveal the future of every human being in the Bible. I’m speaking especially of one’s “eternal destiny.” In Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to DESTRUCTION, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to LIFE, and there are few who find it.” The word “destruction” refers to HELL where all Christ-rejecters will suffer everlasting punishment. The word “life” refers to HEAVEN where all who believe in Christ as their Savior will experience everlasting life. All who refuse to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior have entered through the WIDE GATE, and all who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior have entered through the NARROW GATE. Jesus spoke of this narrow gate in John 10:9 and 14:6, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved…I am the way…No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Have you entered the NARROW GATE through Jesus Christ? If so, you are assured (in Matthew 7:14) that you are on your way to heaven!

One may be thinking, “Can a believer in Christ somehow lose their salvation/eternal life after trusting in Christ?” The answer to that is a definite “NO, a believer can’t lose eternal life, for the Lord Jesus (and God the Father), will keep him/her safely IN THE PALMS OF THEIR HANDS until you arrive safely in heaven!” This is brought out clearly in John 10:27-30, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; NEITHER SHALL ANYONE SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and NO ONE IS ABLE TO SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY FATHER’S HAND. I and My father are one.” So, “our future is not written in the palm of our hands,” but “our future is secure in the palm of God’s hands.” (322.3) (DO)
