Let’s read Acts 15:7-10, “And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?”

In this portion, Peter is explaining to his fellow Jewish Christians that the Lord no longer sees a distinction between Jew and Gentile.  There is ‘no difference’.  While some wanted to have the Gentiles put under the law, Peter says that even their Jewish ancestors could not obtain salvation through keeping the law.  In fact, the law was not given to save, it was given to point men to Christ.  In Galatians 3:24-25 we learn, “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.”

Notice the reoccurring word in these verses…FAITH.  It is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that gives us salvation and makes us the children of God.

*  Galatians 3:26 says, “For ye are all the children of God by FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS.”

*  Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14-15, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through FAITH WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS.”

*  Paul said to those in Ephesus in Acts 20:20-21, “And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and FAITH TOWARD OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.”

Scripture is full of such verses, showing us that the way to be saved is by believing on, or putting your faith in, the Lord Jesus Christ.  We read in Acts 16:31, “BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”  We read in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt BELIEVE in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  We read in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Today, do any of my readers realize your need of salvation and want to be saved?  Then put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who loves you and gave Himself for you.  The Lord promises you in John 6:37, “…him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”  (403.4)
