From what I’ve read about Apollo Quiboloy, he is the founding leader and Executive Pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name.  According to his own website, he says, “What the Jewish leaders and the Romans did to Jesus Christ, the Begotten Son of God in the Jewish setting, my detractors and persecutors are doing to me today.  As Jesus Christ was whipped and nailed to the cross, likewise are they doing to me as the Appointed Son.”  He compares himself to the Lord Jesus, calling the Lord Jesus the ‘Begotten Son of God’ and calls himself the ‘Appointed Son.’

Again, asserting himself as the Son of God, he says, ““The whipping and crucifying they are doing to me today is no longer physical, but spiritual. The physical is over and done with. It will not be repeated because the ministry of the Son today is spiritual.”  In several instances he parallels his life with that of the Lord Jesus.

In answer to the question, “Jesus Christ, the Begotten Son was prophesied in the Bible, but where is the Appointed Son prophesied in the Bible? Is it true that nobody bore witness of you, Pastor?” he responded by stating, “God, who in sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things.” (Hebrews 1: 1-2).  I was not the only one appointed. There were many in the Church Age that were called, that were to be appointed to become like me, but they did not finish the spiritual work. They became religions and denominations without finishing the spiritual work.”  Obviously, he elevates his status to be above men and on an equal basis with the Lord, Himself.

According to different websites, he has been accused and investigated for murder and human trafficking.  Although he also seems to be involved in benevolent acts, that cannot make up for the unlawful behavior and teachings of this man.  The Lord warned us in Luke 21:8, “Take heed that ye be not deceived: for MANY SHALL COME IN MY NAME, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”  We also read the words of the Lord in Mark 13:21-23, “And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.”

Besides all else, if one claims to be the Son of God, we know that he is a false prophet and has not been sent from God.  When his identity is false, you can be assured that the rest of his words will also be false.  In reading some of his teachings, there were several things that he said that were right.  However, an effective liar will use truth to his own advantage to lead others astray.

I encourage you to keep in mind the Lord’s words concerning these false prophets…” go ye not therefore after them.”  (394.2)
