The heart of the natural (unsaved) man is evil.  We read in Genesis 6:5, “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”  We also read in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”  Those with evil hearts refuse to heed the warning of the scriptures.

We are living in a day when the teaching of the return of the Lord is both criticized and mocked.  This reminds me that even in David’s history there were those who mocked the truth of the Lord’s return.  We read in Psalm 115:2, “Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?”  The heathen were speaking as if the Lord’s people had been abandoned by their god.  Yet, David responds in verse 3, “But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”  We need the patience to realize that our God is indeed in the heavens and He will do His perfect will according to His perfect time.

In reference to His return to the earth to reign, the Lord said in Matthew 24:37-39, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”  Noe, or Noah, is called a “preacher of righteousness” (2 Peter 2:5).  His testimony must have been very sure as he and his sons built the ark.  Yet, those around them continued to live their lives as if nothing was going to happen…until it was too late.  This is true of so many people today.  They live as if they will live forever and have no fear of death or of the return of the Lord.  How sad that so many refuse to bow their knee to the Lord Jesus Christ and acknowledge Him as Lord and savior.  We are assured in Romans 14:11, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”  The day will come will ALL of the Lord’s creation will bow before Him and confess the name of Jesus to God.  If we bow our knee to Him now, we bow and receive salvation.  If we wait until the judgment of God comes, we will bow before Him as our judge.

People will continue to do horrible things until the day the Lord returns.  May the Lord give us the strength and grace we need to live for Him until the day we are called home to be with Him.  May we actively seek to win souls to Christ through the presentation of the Gospel so that precious souls might be saved and be spared with the wrath of a sin hating God.  May we heed the words of our loving savior who said, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16).  (381.2)
