Can you explain Galatians 3:28 about no difference between men and women?
This is a good question because there are so many obvious differences between people. We need to find out exactly what is being referenced here in Galatians 3:28. It would be good to read the verses that surround this verse. Let’s read Galatians 3:22-29, “But the scripture hath concluded ALL UNDER SIN, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are ALL THE CHILDREN OF GOD BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are ALL ONE IN CHRIST. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Notice that in this portion, the word ‘all’ is used three times. ALL ARE UNDER SIN…all are under the power and penalty of sin. Romans 3:23 reiterates that fact in saying, “For ALL HAVE SINNED, and come short of the glory of God.” The penalty of our being sinners? “The soul that sinneth, IT SHALL DIE.” (Ezekiel 18:20). I don’t see how this could be made any clearer! I pray that ALL who read these words will realize the truth presented. If you are honest with yourself, you will readily admit you are a sinner. Then, I pray you would realize the true consequence of your sins before God, the One who created you.
However, there is a way for you to be forgiven for your sins. A way to be justified before God. That is through putting your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being JUSTIFIED BY FAITH, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” To be justified means to be rendered righteous in the sight of God, therefore having peace with Him. We see God’s perfect plan of salvation in 2 Corinthians 5:21 where it says, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (NASB). God made His Son to be sin (sin offering) for us, even though He never sinned, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. All who put their faith in the Lord Jesus are forgiven, redeemed, and automatically become the CHILDREN OF GOD. John 1:12 assures us, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become THE SONS OF GOD, even to them that believe on his name.”
Plus, we who have accepted Christ as our savior and are made CHILDREN OF GOD become ONE IN CHRIST, without regard to nationality, social standing, or gender. ALL DISTINCTIONS are done away by this union with Christ. ALL believers are equally accepted in Christ Jesus. And, being made one body in Christ, believers, of whatever nation, gender, or status, are all joined together. We get a similar thought in Romans 10:12-13, “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” ALL believers are on the same level. We were ALL saved in the same way. We are ALL entitled to the same privileges.
There are certain distinctions of roles, and responsibilities in the body of Christ, and we thank the Lord for those important differences. However, when it comes to our salvation, our enjoyment of Christ, our relationships with one another, our privileges as children of God…there is no difference. (CC) (721.6)
