What is Jacob’s ladder? And are you really going to tell me Jacob wrestled God and won?

I have a question about Abraham, Sarah and Hagar and God’s “role” in Hagar’s pregnancy. If he can see the future, and have control over it, like we see He did to let Jesus be born, why not just let Hagar NOT become pregnant? How much “control” does he really have – because look at all the troubles we have today with Islam?

I have read the bible in the past and I don’t feel that I can agree with every teaching in it so I don’t think Christianity is for me. However upon reading I had one question. Surely if Cain and Abel were the sons of Adam and Eve and one was killed, then the human race is incestuous? And where did the woman in the wilderness come from? Thank you for your time.
