My mom is an alcoholic going on 12 years. In those 12 years I have loved her, accepted her and tried helping her in many different ways. She is verbally abusive, even to the point of wishing me to hell. I continue to forgive her but recently I decided, for my well-being and that of my children, to stop all contact with her unless she takes a step at getting help (which she refuses to do). My dad thinks this will cause more harm for her and me. If she passes away, he fears I will have guilt for not having these last moments with her, sober or drunk. I need biblical advice to know if I’m handling this right.

How is it that in the wilderness they had no food to eat and ended up crying to the Lord and manna and quail were provided? What happened to the livestock? Were they not allowed to eat of the livestock?
