We Christians believe the blood of Jesus saves us, but most believers use it to cover or protect their wealth or businesses. Is it right to say “I surround these premises or my business with the blood of Jesus.” I know that the blood saves mankind. Please give directions according to the Word.
The teaching that believers can use “the power of the blood of Jesus to protect property, loved ones, businesses, money, etc.” has NO authority whatsoever in Scripture. This “false teaching” is primarily taught in PENTECOSTAL and CHARISMATIC groups. They say this is done in prayer where they “plead the blood of Jesus.” You will look in vain for any example of the Apostles (or other believers) “pleading the blood of Jesus.” The “power of the blood of Jesus” refers to WHAT JESUS DID ON THE CROSS and the “spiritual blessings” that the repentant and believing sinner receives because Jesus was willing to lay down His life and shed His blood on the cross. Here are some of the main benefits (blessings) that the believer received from the blood of Jesus the moment he/she believed on Christ as their Savior.
REDEMPTION: We are told in Ephesians 1:7 that “In Him WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD.” The apostle Peter echoed this truth in 1 Peter 1:18-19, “Knowing that you were not REDEEMED with corruptible things…but WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST.” The word “redeemed” means we were “purchased and set free from the slave market of sin.” The “blood of Jesus” was the “purchase price” and it has “rescued us from penalty and power of sin.” This redemption is not only for our time here on earth, for all eternity. We see this in Hebrews 9:12, “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with HIS OWN BLOOD He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained ETERNAL REDEMPTION.”
JUSTIFICATION: We have this truth in Romans 3:24, 25a: “Being JUSTIFIED freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation BY HIS BLOOD, through faith.” Because we have “redemption through the blood,” we also have been “JUSTIFIED by His blood.” Before we believed in Christ we were “GUILTY sinners before God” and there was nothing we could do to be “JUSTIFIED in His sight” (see Romans 3:19-20). But the moment we trusted in Christ and His work on the cross, God “declared us RIGHTEOUS” for He is “JUST and the JUSTIFIER of the one who has faith in Jesus” (3:26). To be “declared righteous” is to be declared “not guilty.”
CLEANSING FROM ALL SIN: 1 John 1:7 boldly proclaims, “the BLOOD of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.” Before we were saved, we were “DEFILED by our sins” but through the precious blood of Christ we are now “WASHED from our sins.” Throughout eternity, we shall be echoing the words of the Apostle John in Revelation 1:5, “To Him who loved us and WASHED US FROM OUR SINS in His own blood.”
NEARNESS TO GOD: Ephesians 2:13 declares, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought NEAR BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST.” We were at a distance from God (Isaiah 53:6a) but the moment we were “cleansed from all sin” by the blood of Christ we were also “brought near by the blood of Christ.” All our sins are gone (see Psalm 103:12 and Hebrews 10:17)! We are now God’s children (John 1:12-13) and we could not be any nearer to Him than that.
ACCESS INTO HEAVEN: In Hebrews 10:19-20 we read, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the VEIL, that is, His flesh.” After Jesus died and His blood was shed, we read in Matthew 27:51 that “the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” The “veil” in the temple in Jerusalem prevented anyone from entering “the holy place where God dwelt” except for the high priest who entered in once a year with the BLOOD of an innocent victim. It pictured the “BLOOD of Jesus” which allows us to enter the “HOLIEST in heaven” where we can praise God and offer up our prayers to Him. (DO) (677.1)
