Let us look at a few verses that show us the way of salvation.

  • John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
  • John 3:36, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
  • Acts 10:43, “To him (Christ) give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
  • Acts 16:31, “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

These verses, and many more, show us clearly that salvation comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.  We are reminded that we cannot earn our salvation through our works in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Evolution is defined as the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.  While this is widely accepted today, evolution contradicts the truth of the Bible.  Ten times in Genesis, chapter one, we read that the Lord created plants and animals to reproduce “after his kind”.  We did not evolve from a single-cell amoeba to eventually become man.  No, God created man, animals, plants, etc. to recreate themselves “after his kind.”  All species have always reproduced same species.  The Lord Jesus, Himself, acknowledged this truth in Matthew 19:4, “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female.”

However, today many Christians are often tempted to accept the compromise position of “theistic evolution”, according to which evolution is viewed as God’s method of creation.  Many today teach that evolution was the process God chose to create the earth and man.  Again, this completely contradicts God’s Word which tells us that, “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day…” (Exodus 20:11).  Were these days literally 24-hour periods?  Yes, they were.  Consider the example we have from Genesis 1:5, “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. AND THE EVENING AND THE MORNING WERE THE FIRST DAY.” This truth is repeated in each of the six days of creation. (Verses 8, 13, 19, 23, and 31).

We owe it to ourselves and to the Lord to study His Word to see how God created ALL THINGS in the manner we read in the Bible.  Ephesians 3:9 tells us that God “created all things by Jesus Christ.”  We also read in Colossians 1:16, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”

Salvation comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our thoughts about evolution does not affect this wonderful truth.  If anyone puts their faith in the Lord Jesus and owns Him as Savior and Lord, they are saved.  As we learn and grow in God’s Word, we should be able to recognize God’s precious work of creation of the world and of man.  However, our salvation does not rest upon our knowledge of creation, it rests upon our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  (CC)  (519.6)
