Can you explain to me Leviticus 25:5-6? Verse 5 says not to reap the aftergrowth nor gather the grapes from untrimmed vines. But then, verse 6 says you shall have the Sabbath products of the land for food. Verse 5 just said not to reap what comes up (we’d call ‘volunteers’ from seed of previous year) or gather from untrimmed vines…so if you aren’t allowed to reap or gather, how can you have the products from the sabbath year for food?

The 21st century is very different than Jesus’ time. How do I know when I read the bible whether I should read it as an absolute truth that I should follow today or as a contextual truth? For instance, Leviticus 19:28 speaks of tattoos and cutting the flesh as instruments of worshipping false gods. That is not why people get tattoos today.
