I am not sure what you mean by a ‘symbolic resurrection’, but Paul the apostle taught much about the actual resurrection of Christ and its importance.

Paul spoke of the Lord’s resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”  By saying that he had ‘received’ this truth, Paul was stating that God had imparted to him this most important fact.  It was ‘according to the scriptures’ that Paul insisted that Christ died, was buried, and rose again.  Paul, himself, was a witness to the Lord’s resurrection as he stated in verse 8, “And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.”

Emphasizing the necessity of the Lord’s resurrection, Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.”  From this, we realize that if Christ has not been raised from the dead, then our salvation is void, our faith has been wasted, and we are still sinners before God.  We simply cannot emphasize enough the value and necessity of Christ’s resurrection.

Paul wrote in Romans 4:25 that, “He (Christ) who was delivered over because of our wrongdoings, and was raised because of our justification.” (NASB).  He went on to write in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Christ’s resurrection is necessary for our salvation and faith in His death and resurrection is what saves us.

Paul also wrote about the Lord’s resurrection in:

  • 2 Corinthians 5:15, “And that he (Christ) died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
  • Galatians 1:1, “Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)”
  • Ephesians 1:20, “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.”
  • Philippians 3:10, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”
  • Colossians 2:12, “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:10, “And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:8, “Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.”

Paul writes about the resurrection of Christ several more times, but I included these references to show that in nine of his epistles, Paul wrote about the fact of and the importance of the Lord’s resurrection from the dead.  Let’s look at Romans 10:9 once again.  “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Have you believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior?  Do you believe that He died for you and was raised again for you?  If so, you are saved.  If not, you need to be saved now before it is too late.  (CC)  (539.4)
