Reading your good question, I was reminded of Moses as we read of him in Hebrews 3:5, “And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after.”  The faithful servant does what his master instructs him/her to do.  I am thankful that you are reaching out to others, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  How powerful that is!  The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION to every one that believeth…”  The power of the Gospel does not lie in our ability to captivate an audience’s attention.  It does not depend on uplifting music to make it more appealing.  The power of the Gospel is the plain message that is simply put in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”  It is plainly stated in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

The presentation of the Gospel can be a short message, or even a short sentence as we read in Acts 16:31, “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”  I do know the power of this verse because the Lord used this very verse to bring me to salvation by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as my savior.  I put my faith in Him many years ago and am still amazed and thankful at the grace of God that He would save someone like me.  I’ve often felt I could identify with Paul when he wrote, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. (1 Timothy 1:15).

Today, there are many ways to share the Gospel.

  • We can shout it from the rooftops.
  • We can speak with others one on one.
  • We can distribute Gospel tracts in public areas.
  • We can add Gospel tracts to our letters or when paying bills.
  • We can use social media, such as Facebook or X, or other ways.  Answers From the Book began as a local radio program before reaching out through Facebook, inviting others to send in their questions.  Over the past few years, this program has grown tremendously…and it is just one way the Lord uses to get His Word out to others.

Should you show your face or have a picture of yourself when you share the Gospel on public media?  I find no reason to think that you shouldn’t.  In fact, if you continue to do evangelistic work on public media, others may recognize you and read your material more readily.  I can discern from the tone of your question that you are not trying to promote yourself, and I appreciate that.  It should always be Christ being presented and we, as faithful servants, should remain in the background allowing God’s Word to do its work in the hearts of those who read or hear the messages.  If the Lord should lead you to have a more public ministry, apart from social media, I encourage you to follow His leading.  What was true in the days when the Lord Jesus was on the earth is still true today.  “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2).  The Lord calls upon every believer to do the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5).

As you prepare your heart for service for the Lord through study and prayer, the Lord will use you to share the truth of His Word in whatever He chooses.  We are told in 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.”  (CC)  (739.2)
