No, there is no mention of the Unites States in Revelation. Having said that, there are those who believe there are prophecies that could be referring to the United States, but only in the form of symbolism. For example, in Revelation 8:8-9 we read, “Then the second angel sounded: and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.” There are Old Testament prophecies that do use the word “mountain” to symbolize a great nation or kingdom (see Daniel 2:35 & 44 with Jeremiah 51:24-25) and thus they believe the “great mountain burning with fire” in Revelation is a great nation and could possibly be the United States. Though they are justified in giving a symbolic meaning to the mountains in Daniel and Jeremiah (which do refer to great nations/kingdoms that once ruled over Israel), there is no reason not to interpret Revelation 8:8-9 as something physical. It reads, “something like a great mountain” and that could refer to an asteroid or a meteorite that crashed into one third of the seas resulting in the killing and bloodshed of all sea creatures in those seas, along with the loss of lives of people in the ships. We need to remember a very important rule of interpretation: If we can take a scripture literally (instead of symbolically) we should. John may have seen in his vision a huge “chunk of rock that looked like a mountain,” and having never seen or heard of such a thing coming to earth from outer space, he described it as a “great mountain burning with fire.” Those who give this a symbolic meaning resort to some very “fanciful interpretation” when explaining the words, “and a third part of the sea became blood.”

It is very hard to imagine the United States NOT being in prophecy, for it has been the “World Super Power” for decades. Add to that it has been Israel’s greatest friend and ally (I am writing this right after the United States, along with Israel, have just bombed Iran’s nuclear sites in order to stop their nuclear threat (to build enough nuclear bombs to destroy Israel and possibly the United States). We read early on in Scripture that God promised Abraham, “I will make you a great nation; and I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I WILL BLESS THOSE WHO BLESS YOU, and I will CURSE HIM WHO CURSES YOU; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” The United States has, for the most part, been a BLESSING TO ISRAEL and thus we could “logically” assume they will BLESSED BY GOD. If so, they would surely be mentioned in Bible prophecy. This leads Bible scholars to conclude that something must happen to America which would lead to it not being mentioned in Bible prophecy. Here are several suggestions of what “could happen” to the United States.

1) The United States could lose its “super-power status” by an economic collapse. I remember how quickly America suffered financial ruin during the COVID crisis and had it continued it would no longer be a Super Power.

2) The United States could suffer a nuclear attack/holocaust by one of its “enemies” such as Russia, China, or North Korea (who all have many nuclear warheads and missiles that can reach America)

3) Some believe the United States may one day become “isolationists” and turn their back on Israel.

4) The United States could be crippled (financially and otherwise) when the Rapture occurs (for there are so many true believers in Christ that would vanish who were leaders in financial institutions, military and political positions, educational and technological fields, etc.). World power would then transfer to western nations of Europe and Europe is easily identified in Bible prophecy.  (DO)  (684.5)
