Let’s read Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

What an incredibly loving and powerful savior we have!  He is able to do for us more than we can even ask or even think about asking.  God is omnipotent; therefore, he is able to do all things.  Genesis 18:14 asks the rhetorical question, “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?”  We also read in Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”  Because of His endless love for us, the power of God is there for us to meet our needs, to strengthen us to live for Him, to drive out all our fears, etc.

The “power that worketh in us” is the Holy Spirit of God.  Romans 8:26 tells us, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”  The more we yield ourselves to the leading of the Spirit, the more effective He will be in conforming us to Christ, our savior.  This is the desire of God for us as we read in Romans 8:29, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

It is of HIM, our powerful, loving savior that Paul writes, “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”  It is to our Lord that all praise and glory should go.  He alone is worthy of our eternal praise and worship.  We read the words of David in 2 Samuel 22:4 which says, “I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”  It is from the church, of which Christ is the head, that eternal praises shall flow.  The Lord said in Matthew 16:18, “…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”  At that point, the church had not been built.  The Lord announced that He would build HIS church, so it is appropriate that His church should be the source of praise and glory to the Lord.

“Throughout all ages” shows that this praise will extend through all succeeding generations.

“World without end” shows that this praise will extend through all eternity.

The words “praise the Lord” or “praise ye the Lord” are found more than 55 times in the Bible.  That should draw our attention to the reality that the Lord deserves our deepest and most sincere praise.

We will close our short meditation by considering the words of Psalm 150:1-6:

“PRAISE ye the LORD. PRAISE God in his sanctuary: PRAISE him in the firmament of his power.

PRAISE him for his mighty acts: PRAISE him according to his excellent greatness.

PRAISE him with the sound of the trumpet: PRAISE him with the psaltery and harp.

PRAISE him with the timbrel and dance: PRAISE him with stringed instruments and organs. PRAISE him upon the loud cymbals: PRAISE him upon the high sounding cymbals.

LET EVERY THING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD.”  (CC)  (570.2)
