What does the Bible say about aliens?
You are no doubt speaking of a “space alien.” The definition of an alien is, “A form of life assumed to exist outside of the Earth and its atmosphere.” Most people go further than this and say, “A form of life existing on another planet somewhere in the universe” and then they try to imagine what that form might be. Perhaps we’ve all seen pictures (in books or movies) of such images and they range in looks from one with features resembling a human being to grotesque creatures resembling something living in the sea.
I can say emphatically that the Bible says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this kind of life form existing in outer space. It is sad that man has spent so much time, energy and money in their search for an alien life form. If, and this is a big IF, God did create other life forms He has chosen not to reveal this to us in His Word. The book of Genesis (Genesis means “the origin or coming into being something”) tells us what God DID create. Genesis 1:1 declares, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” This verse is both simple and sublime, and it teaches us that the universe HAD A BEGINNING and that the Earth seems to be the FOCAL POINT of this vast universe. Again, men who refuse to believe the Bible is the Word of God dismiss and reject this truth. They believe the universe is so large that it’s inconceivable that we are alone; in their minds there MUST be other planets that can sustain life in other solar systems and galaxies. But as one reads the Word of God we see, from Genesis to Revelation, that God’s plan and purposes center around this small planet called Earth. We also learn in 2nd Peter 3:12-13 that the present heavens and earth will be destroyed and that God will create new heavens and a new earth: “Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells” (NASB). See also Revelation 21:1.
Besides creating “the heavens and the earth,” God created the following “life forms”:
*Genesis 1:20 says, “Then God said, ‘Let the waters teem with swarms of LIVING CREATURES, and let BIRDS fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.”
*Genesis 1:24 states, “Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth LIVING CREATIONS after their kind: CATTLE and CREEPING THINGS and BEASTS of the earth after their kind.”
*Genesis 1:27-28 read, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make MAN in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing…and God created MAN in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
We learn of one other “life form” that God created in Psalm 104:4, “Who makes His ANGELS spirits.” We believe they were created before the other life forms, for in the rest of this blessed Psalm we have God’s creation of the heavens, the earth and the life forms who make their home there rehearsed. But where do the angels live? Scripture is clear that THEY LIVE in the heavens above us. In Ephesians 2:2 Satan (the prince of all fallen angels) is said to be “the prince of the power of the AIR.” Later, in 6:12, we read “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the HEAVENLY PLACES.” It is equally true that God’s holy angels also live in heaven. Revelation 12:7 says, “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought.”
So, ANGELS are the only life form that we read of that live in “outer space,” and yet as we saw in the beginning this is NOT the aliens that men imagine. Those who believe they have had “close encounters” with alien life forms, or who believe they have seen “UFO’s,” may very well have been deceived by “fallen angels” (i.e. demons). One of the ways a person “opens up the door to demonic influence and deception” is through the “occult.” Where one believes they are “in contact with spiritual guides or extraterrestrials,” they are actually in contact with demons who are impersonating alien life forms.
