As a Muslim, what can I do for my future?
I assume, in asking this question, you are wondering what you can do to insure a happy future for yourself, one that will give you true purpose and satisfaction in life. You have knowingly asked this question on a “Christian” website (not a “Muslim” website), so I trust you are prepared to hear the truth from the Bible, God’s infallible and inerrant Word. I pray this is so and that you will be blessed!
I would like to quote the words of Jesus Christ from John 10:7-11, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I AM THE DOOR. IF ANYONE ENTERS BY ME, HE SHALL BE SAVED, and shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I HAVE COME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MAY HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY. I am the good shepherd. THE GOOD SHEPHERD GIVES HIS LIFE FOR THE SHEEP” (NKJV).
In this precious passage we learn the secret to a happy and satisfying life (and future)! Jesus Christ is the key to that life, for as He says, “I have come that they might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” In these words He is describing the “gift of eternal life” that He freely offers to anyone who will believe on Him. When He said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he shall be saved” (verse 7), He was teaching us that He is the only way of salvation. Later, in John 14:6, He stated, “I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life, no man comes unto the Father but my Me.” Again, He is teaching us He is the ONLY WAY of salvation; the only way that man can get to heaven to be with the Father. In verse 11 He tells us what it cost Him to provide salvation for us, “The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” In other words, Jesus had to go to the cross and lay down His life for us as a sacrifice for sin. In verses 17-18 He repeats the necessity of laying down His life for those who would be saved, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I LAY DOWN MY LIFE that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF…This command I have received from My Father.”
Notice, Jesus says that the Father commanded Him to lay down His life. God the Father knew there was no other way for sinners to be saved, so He sent His Son on a mission of love to lay down His life on the cross. The most well-known verse in the Bible declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The apostle John was also inspired to write these words, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1st John 4:10). It was God’s LOVE THAT DREW SALVATION’S PLAN and on the cross His Son died as the Perfect Sacrifice for our sins. Our sins is what keep us from enjoying life now and in the future, but Christ took our place in death and judgment to pay the price that our sins deserved. The moment one believes this “good news” he/she is forgiven. “To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43). Besides being forgiven, the believing sinner has eternal life, as we saw in John 3:16.
This wonderful salvation that brings forgiveness and eternal life not only assures the believer of a glorious future in heaven, but it promises you true happiness and purpose in life EVEN NOW! Remember, Jesus said He came that “you might have life more abundantly.” Jesus taught this to true believers in the following passages of Scripture: John 14:1-4, 12-21, 23-27; 15:1-11, 26-27; 16:13-15, 33. It is my earnest prayer that you will read all the scriptures that were cited and BELIEVE THEM! If you do believe on Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin, you will indeed “have life, and that more abundantly.” (337.1) (DO)
