I answered a similar question last year where I described the GLORY OF GOD as “the infinite beauty and greatness of God’s manifold perfections.” The glory of God would include His Divine Attributes of OMNISCIENCE (He is “all-knowing”); OMNIPOTENCE (He is “all-powerful”) and OMNIPRESENCE (He is “present everywhere”). The glory of God is also seen in His Divine Nature (His “moral glory.” 1st John 4:8 tells us that “God is LOVE,” which would include His compassion for mankind, His mercy, His kindness, and His goodness. 1st John 1:5 declares that “God is LIGHT,” which speaks of God being holy, righteous and true. His glory can be experienced primarily in THREE WAYS:

1) Through CREATION. In Psalm 19:1 we read, “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands” (NASB). The apostle Paul echoed this truth in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made.” Every time you look up on a star-lit night you are SEEING GOD’S GLORY! When you behold a majestic mountain, a roaring sea, a gentle-flowing stream, a beautiful flower, or any of His countless creations in the animal kingdom, you are EXPERIENCING GOD’S GLORY! We saw in Psalm 19:1 that the heavens declare “the work of His hands,” but “His fingerprints” are displayed wherever you look.

2) Through HIS SON. In John 1:14 it says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and WE BEHELD HIS GLORY, THE GLORY AS OF THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER, full of grace and truth” (NKJV). Later, in verse 18, Jesus said, “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” From the manger to the cross the GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER was on display in the life of His Son. Men witnessed His LOVE and His HOLINESS in everything the Lord Jesus did and in everything He said. We can’t see this with our physical eyes today, but as you read and study the scriptures which speak of the Lord’s life here on earth, you have the privilege of EXPERIENCING GOD’S GLORY.

3) Through BELIEVERS IN CHRIST. I had just mentioned that you can see God’s glory as you study the life of Christ in the Bible. A verse that highlights that truth is 2nd Corinthians 3:18, “But we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING as in a mirror THE GLORY OF THE LORD, are being TRANSFORMED INTO THE SAME IMAGE FROM GLORY TO GLORY, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” When a believer sits down to read the Word, the Holy Spirit presents to him the glories of Christ. At the same time, a wonderful transformation takes place, for as we BEHOLD HIS GLORY, we (believers) are CHANGED INTO HIS IMAGE! This means that a believer takes on His “moral likeness” so that when people see us, they see Christ. Believers have the inestimable privilege of displaying to the world God’s love, mercy, compassion, kindness, holiness, and righteousness, and when we do, GOD’S MORAL GLORY IS MANIFESTED THROUGH US!
