It will be a pleasure to list some of the Bible’s “faithful women.” Instead of listing passages and expounding on them, I will simply quote passages and let the reader meditate upon them. I trust you will see that these women held a special place in God’s heart and in many cases their faith and devotion were greater than any man. I hope this will cause you to read all that you can about each one (you can use a good concordance to look them up). This is only a small list; if we had the space we would include Esther, Deborah, Abigail, Lydia, Priscilla, Phebe, Lois, Eunice, and many others.

*SARAH: “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised” (Hebrews 11:11; NKJV).

*RAHAB: “By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace” (Hebrews 11:31; NKJV).

*HANNAH: “She made a vow and said, ‘O LORD of hosts, if You will…give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life’…and the LORD remembered her…after Hannah had conceived, she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel…she said to her husband, ‘I will not go up until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD and stay there forever’” (1st Samuel 1:11, 19-22; NASB).

*RUTH: “And she [Naomi] said, ‘Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.’ But Ruth said: ‘Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me’” (Ruth 1:15-17; NKJV).

*ANNA: “Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess…who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem” (Luke 2:36-38; NKJV).

*MARY (mother of Jesus): “The angel Gabriel was sent by God…to a virgin…the virgin’s name was Mary…the angel said to her, ‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!’” (Luke 1:26-28; NKJV).

*MARY (MAGDALENE): “Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons” (Luke 8:1-2; NKJV). “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus…Mary Magdalene…now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early…Mary stood by the tomb weeping…Jesus said to her, ‘Mary’” (John 19:25; 20:1, 11, 16; NKJV).

*MARY (sister of Martha): “And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” (Luke 10:39; NKJV). “Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” ( John 12:3; NKJV)  (204.3)  (DO)
