Although it makes sense for the unsaved to be apart from the saved in Heaven, why does hell have to be such a harsh punishment, for example, why can’t the unsaved simply exist eternally in a sort of immobile environment where there would not be eternal suffering and pain? Or even further why couldn’t the souls of the unsaved simply cease to exist?

I’ve been in a serious relationship for around 3 years. My mom isn’t a big fan of him as he isn’t from a rich family. She tells me that it isn’t God’s will. I need to know if I can marry him. I was baptized when I was 8 years old. Although I was very young, I still remember it with such clarity. My question is: Is there a certain age one must be for baptism to make it count and if so, what is the acceptable age? Should I be baptized as an adult, to ensure I have truly been born again in the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
