That is a very interesting question. We know that all who are in heaven, including the disciples who were called to be apostles, will EXPERIENCE EXTREME BLISS. Psalm 16:11 confirms this: “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is FULLNESS OF JOY; at Your right hand are PLEASURES FOREVERMORE.”

We know that all who are in heaven will be WORSHIPPERS. Revelation 4:9-11 teach us that we will WORSHIP GOD AS CREATOR: “Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and WORSHIP HIM who lives forever and ever, cast their crowns before the throne, saying: ‘You are worthy, O Loird, to receive glory and honor and power; for YOU CREATED ALL THINGS, and by Your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 5:6, 8-9 teach us that we will WORSHIP CHRIST AS THE LAMB OF GOD: “And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a LAMB AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN SLAIN…and the twenty-four elders FELL DOWN BEFORE THE LAMB…and they  sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll…for YOU WERE SLAIN, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood.”

We know that all who are in heaven will be LEARNERS. Ephesians 2:7 teaches us that God will, throughout eternity, be teaching us of His GRACE: “That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding RICHES OF HIS GRACE in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” This glorious subject will be fresh and inexhaustible!

We know that all who are in heaven will be SERVANTS. In Revelation 22:3 we read, “And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His SERVANTS SHALL SERVE HIM.” We are not told exactly how we will serve Him, but we know that since there is no more sin or curse, OUR SERVICE WILL BE PERFECT, without any failure or regrets. The next ROLE will reveal one of the ways we will serve Him during the Millennium (the 1,000-year reign of Christ).

We know that all who are in heaven will REIGN WITH CHRIST. Revelations 20:4 teaches us this wonderful truth: “And I saw THRONES, and they that sat on them, and judgment was committed to them….and they lived and REIGNED WITH CHRIST for a thousand years.” In Revelation 2:25 and 3:21 Jesus gave us these promises: “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will GIVE POWER OVER THE NATIONS…To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Presently, the Lord Jesus is at the “right hand of God,” but when He comes in power and glory as King of kings, He will establish His kingdom and sit on His own throne as the Son of Man (Matthew 24:29-31; 25:31; and Revelation 19:11-16). We will then sit on thrones and reign with Him and rule over the nations. Regarding the 12 apostles, they will have a very special place in Christ’s kingdom, for they will “judge the twelve tribes of Israel.” We see this in Matthew 19:27-28, “Then Peter answer and said to Him, ‘See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore, what shall we have?’ So, Jesus said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on TWELVE THRONES, JUDGING THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL.” You may be thinking, But what service will they have AFTER the 1,000-year kingdom age? We aren’t sure, but we have already seen in Revelation 22:3 that in the eternal state “His servants shall serve Him.” So, our service to Christ will never end. Though God does not reveal the details of our “eternal service,” we know it will be perfect and beyond anything we could possibly imagine. In our service we will be blessed, and our Lord and Savior will be glorified forever and ever!  (DO)  (603.1)
