What are the activities of demons?
Demons are (like their master Satan) diabolical beings who have two main purposes: 1) To rob God of the glory He deserves; and 2) To bring humans into bondage and corruption. We will now cite scriptures that describe some of their activities that they employ to achieve their goals.
Let’s read Mark 5:2-5, “And when He (Jesus) had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an UNCLEAN SPIRIT, who had his DWELLING AMONG THE TOMBS; and NO ONE COULD BIND HIM, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And THE CHAINS HAD BEEN PULLED APART BY HIM; and THE SHACKLES BROKEN IN PIECES; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, CRYING OUT AND CUTTING HIMSELF with stones” (NKJV). This illustrates perfectly that demons are bent on bringing humans into bondage and corruption. These demons did the following to this poor man:
*They POSSESSED his body and CONTROLLED his spirit.
*They ISOLATED him from others.
*They gave him SUPER-NATURAL STRENGTH.
*They caused him to be DEPRESSED and SUICIDAL.
Now let’s consider some scriptures to show their work of POISONING THE MINDS OF THE UNSAVED to keep them from coming to Christ for forgiveness and salvation:
*2nd Corinthians 4:3-4, “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, WHOSE MINDS THE GOD OF THIS AGE HAS BLINDED, who do not believe, lest the light of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
*1st Timothy 4:1, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, GIVING HEED TO DECEIVING SPIRITS AND DOCTRINES OF DEMONS.”
How do they spread their soul-destroying lies, you ask? 2nd Corinthians 11:13-15 tells us, “For such are FALSE APOSTLES, DECEITFUL WORKERS, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” Satan and his demons USE UNSAVED MEN to spread their false doctrine.
Demons also ATTACK BELIEVERS. We see this conflict in Ephesians 6:11-12, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against PRINCIPALITIES, against POWERS, again the RULERS OF THE DARKNESS of this age, against SPIRITUAL HOSTS OF WICKEDNESS in the heavenly places.” This passage describes the various ranks of demons who are actively seeking to destroy the Christian’s peace, joy and testimony in this world. They will use whatever means available to them (false doctrine, worldly temptations, evil associations, etc.) to accomplish this purpose. Because of this, we (believers in Christ) need to “put on the whole armor of God” (see verses 14-18). We are also told in 1st Peter 5:8, “Be SOBER, be VIGILANT; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (309.7) (DO)
