What will happen to people who are a misomaniac when they die? Will they be held accountable for all the things they did wrong despite their sickness?
A “misomaniac” is “one who hates everything.” They also have “a fear of persecution, or being hated by everyone.” It is sometimes considered a symptom of other mental disorders such as “dementia.” I found very little information about this mental disease, so I don’t know if it’s hereditary, if one could be born with it, what causes it if one develops it after they are born, or if there is a cure for it.
If one is born a misomaniac and there is no cure, I don’t believe they will be held accountable for “all the things they did wrong.” We all know there are people who are born with other mental disorders such as severe “mental retardation.” In this case they remain mentally and emotionally “little children” and the Bible teaches us that little children, who have not reached “the age of accountability,” go to heaven. Let’s read Matthew 18:10-11, 14: “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost….Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish” (NKJV). King David understood this truth, for when his infant son died he said, “But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I SHALL GO TO HIM, but he shall not return to me” (2nd Samuel 12:23). David KNEW that the child was in heaven and that someday he would “go to him”; in other words, he would join him in heaven.
If one becomes a misomaniac later in life it would depend on whether or not he trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation BEFORE this severe mental disorder developed. Let’s be clear on this, everyone who puts their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation WILL BE IN HEAVEN when they die. We could cite dozens of verses to prove this, but here are a few scriptures which teach this wonderful truth:
*John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.”
*John 5:24: “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and BELIEVES HIM WHO SENT ME, HAS ETERNAL LIFE, and does not into judgment, but has passed out of death into life” (NASB).
*John 6:39-40: “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and BELIEVES IN HIM MAY HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
So, if one truly believes on the Son of God as the One who was sent by the Father to be their Savior (see 1st John 4:14), they HAVE ETERNAL LIFE and they SHALL NOT PERISH. They will go to heaven even if they develop a mental disorder such as misomania (or dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.). Those who do NOT believe on the Son of God as their Savior WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN; they WILL GO TO HELL . “He who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).
I will add that a true believer will have to give an account for things he did wrong, for we read in 2nd Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” This is NOT a judgment to determine whether or not one goes to heaven or hell, but to determine what rewards they will receive or not receive (see 1st Corinthians 3:14-15). But I believe this is speaking of “good or bad” that is done by a believer when they were in their right mind and thus they are held accountable for their actions. Again, I don’t believe one is held accountable for a severe mental disease in which they had no power to control. (287.9) (DO)
