In 1 Kings 2:1-12, David instructed Solomon on how to rule.  In doing so, David told Solomon not to let Joab “grow old and go to his grave in peace” (1 Kings 2:6) and to have Shimei son of Gera to die a “bloody death” (1 Kings 2:9).  It sounds as if David wanted Solomon to take revenge on these individuals for their sins against David.   Your thoughts on this?

I’m a believer in Jesus Christ.  I don’t know for certain if I will go to Heaven.  Matthew 5:20 says I will not, but others say if I keep the commandments I will, or if is just believe in Jesus I will go to Heaven.  Can you help me understand which entry in the Bible should I concentrate on in order to see where I fit in to all this?
